Welcome to Colsten Can’t Wait, which is my version of Waiting on Wednesday! Every week, my cat and I pick out an upcoming book that we’re looking forward to and highlight it! This week we decided to pick out King of Scars.

Synopsis:

Nikolai Lantsov has always had a gift for the impossible. No one knows what he endured in his country’s bloody civil war—and he intends to keep it that way. Now, as enemies gather at his weakened borders, the young king must find a way to refill Ravka’s coffers, forge new alliances, and stop a rising threat to the once-great Grisha Army. Yet with every day a dark magic within him grows stronger, threatening to destroy all he has built. With the help of a young monk and a legendary Grisha Squaller, Nikolai will journey to the places in Ravka where the deepest magic survives to vanquish the terrible legacy inside him. He will risk everything to save his country and himself. But some secrets aren’t meant to stay buried—and some wounds aren’t meant to heal

I’ll be honest. I haven’t read Six of Crows or Crooked Kingdom. I mean, I did read SoC a good while ago but I barley remember anything. It’s basically like I didn’t read it haha. And I thought the Grisha series was alright, but I didn’t love it as much as everybody else. Despite this, I actually am looking forward to this book. Everybody’s excitement is infectious and Nikolai sounds like a character I would like to get to know better. I know I will probably get spoiled for the other twos books, but I honestly don’t know when I will get around to reading them. And I’m going to take the chance and forge ahead! Plus, this book sounds amazing on top of the insane hype. It sounds like something I would love and just really good. The impossible, hidden wounds, and learning more about an established magic system? Yes, I want to read more about that.

King of Scars comes out Janurary 29th, 2019! You can add it on Goodreads and pre-order a copy in the meantime!

Thank you for reading!
