Cover Throwdown! US vs UK

A lot of the times, books will have different covers across countries. I thought it would be fun to compare some of them! I saw somebody I follow do this, but for the life of me can’t remember who, but all credit to them for giving me this idea! The US cover will be first and then UK one!

What if it’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera

The US one is one of the most adorable things I have ever seen, but the UK one does has the feel to the US, while adding it’s own spin on it. So… they’re both good.

Hi, yes, that UK cover is so gorgeous it hurts my eyes.

Truthwitch by Susan Dennard

I think both of these covers have their strengths, but I’m going to have to go with the UK one!

Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

The US one is so fierce and so strong looking that I have to give it to that one!

One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus

I think the US captures the essence of ‘murder mystery’ perfectly.

So, when you tally everything up here… IT’S LITERALLY A TIE. Haha, I can’t. Well, I hope you enjoyed comparing some covers!

Thank you for reading!

  1. It’s so interesting seeing the different covers. I pretty much only ever see the US ones being a Canadian. I loved all of these and agree with most of your choices, although I prefer the UK “What If It’s Us” cover, it’s so clever and unique!

  2. I love this idea! I prefered the UK covers except for One of us is Lying (you’re so right, the US cover captures the mystery aspect way better, the blanked out faces is so creepy) and for Muse of Nightmares. I’m never really a big fan of red covers — it’s my least favourite colour haha.
