Spooky Books I Haven’t Read, But Want To

Halloween is right around the corner, and since I’ve found that I really enjoy writing Halloweeney type posts! I don’t do a whole lot for Halloween, so this is a great way for me to experience it, but not be too involved haha. Plus, I’ve found that there are a ton of scary/spooky/creepy books that I want to read, so why not make a post about them!

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo

I feel like this book is required to be on all the lists about spooky books. It’s by Leigh Bardugo, it has ghosts, takes place at Yale, and is supposed to be disturbing. I’ve started a little bit of it and it’s already made me really uncomfortable. I’ll have to be in just the right place to read it, but I’m definitely willing to give it a try!

Into The Drowning Deep by Mira Grant

Oooooh, I’ve been wanting to read this one for awhile. It’s an underwater horror book. That’s basically all I needed to know to want to read it, but it also has a f/f romance! It’s supposed to be really scary, so I’m looking forward to seeing what I think of it.

Strange Grace by Tessa Gratton

I’ve heard a lot of really good things about this one and it sounds terrifying. Someone has to be sacrificed to make sure a village has prosperity. That’s basically enough to freak me out, but that’s just the basic concept. There’s complications in the lead up the upcoming sacrifice and theirs lies and so much more.

Here There Are Monsters by Amelinda Bérubé

This is another one I’ve been wanting to read for awhile! A girl disappears into the woods and her older sister wants to find her. Plus, there’s rumors of monsters and it just sounds really creepy!

The Tenth Girl by Sara Faring

So, this is actually one I’ve already read, but I loved it so much that I’m putting it here so I can scream about it a bit more. This book is super freaky. It’s a ghost story, but it’s definitely a lot more than that. It is so intricately weaved and so, so well done. I love it a lot.

I’m always on the lookout for more books like this, so if you have any recommendations, I’d be happy to hear them! I’ve found myself drawn to these types of books more and more.

Thank you for reading!
