Books With Angry Female Characters

I’ve grown to love angry female characters. I never hated them, but I don’t think I ran into them a lot or appreciated/noticed them as much as I do now. And now I love them and will pick up a book specifically for the angry female characters.

Furyborn by Claire Legrand

Rielle And Eliana feel things so much and so passionately. They allow their anger to drive them, and while it doesn’t always drive them to make the best decisions, they embrace their feelings. They do it in such different ways, which I think is cool too. There’s no one right way to feel.

Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand

Another Claire Legrand book; she does write amazing, angry female characters. Val, Marion, and Zoe are more characters that feel so deeply. They aren’t scared to show their anger at the unfairness of their world and the unfairness at the expectations set on them. Their anger drives them, and it’s such a great things to see.

The Merciful Crow by Margaret Owen

Alright, I love this book. I adore Fie’s character. The Crows are angry, but it’s the simmering kind. They can’t show it. It sits in them and it builds until it seeps out into their lives. Fie doesn’t hide her anger as well. It pours out of her until it explodes. She isn’t afraid of her feelings. She runs head into them.

Nocturna by Maya Motayne

Finn’s anger is more of an underlying thing in this book. She’s angry and upset with her world and her past. She wants to try and change it and is angry at the things that get in her way.

Scavenge The Stars by Tara Sim

I would personally say Amaya is more determined than angry. Well, at least there’s more of a focus on her determination. But I feel like there’s an underlying anger in her, but it’s laced in so much sadness. She carries so much sorrow and has so much trauma. But she turns it into anger and determination. She tries so hard to try.

I realize that a lot of these covers have some red in them, and that’s a total coincidence haha. Angry female characters is quickly becoming something that I will pick up a book specifically for. I love that such raw and real emotions are showcased in books. If you have any recommendations, I would love to check them out!

Thank you for reading!
