Welcome to Colsten Can’t Wait, which is my version of Waiting On Wednesday! Every week, my cat and I pick out an upcoming book we’re looking forward to and highlight it! This week, we picked out Only Ashes Remain.

Synopsis:
After escaping her kidnappers and destroying the black market where she was held captive, all Nita wants is to find a way to live her life without looking over her shoulder. But with a video of her ability to self-heal all over the dark web, Nita knows she’s still a prime target on the black market. There’s only one way to keep herself safe. Nita must make herself so feared that no one would ever dare come after her again. And the best way to start building her reputation? Take her revenge on Fabricio, the boy who sold Nita to her kidnappers. But killing Fabricio is harder than Nita thought it would be, even with Kovit by her side. Now caught in a game of kill or be killed, Nita will do whatever it takes to win.
I really, really enjoyed Not Even Bones. The characters are such a fantastic shade of morally gray and the world they live in is incredibly vicious. The last book ended on a cliffhanger, so I can’t wait to see what happened next. The synopsis doesn’t reveal much, but I can maybe guess a little bit where it’s going to go. It looks like Nita is going to continue being brutal and awesome. It also sounds like the she’s going to delve deeper into the monster side of her. She wants to protect herself and I’m looking forward to seeing how far she goes to do that. Kovit is going to in this book too! He surprised me in Not Even Bones, and while I didn’t love him, I definitely appreciated him as a character and he grew on me. It should be interesting to see how he ties into the story. I would like to know more about him. I also hope we can find out more about the different kinds of monsters that lurk in this world! I found them fascinating. This sounds like it’s going to be another really great morally gray book.
