Top Ten Tuesday: Books I’ve Loved Released In The Last 10 Years

Ooooh, this is fun. The prompt suggests doing one book for each year, which I think is really cool. I just didn’t put it in the title since I thought that would make it too long haha. Let’s see if I can dig into the recesses of my mind and find some old books that I really loved! I’m not going to be doing it by the year I read the book, but by the year the book came out, since that is easier to look up and I don’t have to remember the exact year I read a certain book. Plus, I think it will give me more variety!

2009: City Of Class by Cassandra Clare

Oh wow, this was released so long ago. I remember reading these books and really loving them. It was the series I was absouetly in love with at the time I was reading them

2010: Spirit Bound by Richelle Meade

Ah, I adored and still do adore the Vampire Academy books to pieces. I pretty much wanted to reread them before I even finished them. I remember wanting to read them so bad, since they were getting really popular, but not knowing if they were appropriate for a 12 year old. I ended up reading them anyway haha.

2011: Demon Glass by Rachel Hawkins

I still want another book in the spinoff series of the Hex Hall books! Nevertheless, these might have been the first witchy books I’ve read. The writing was really fantastic and they were so fun to read.

2012: The Selection by Kiera Cass

Oh my gosh, The Selection. Everybody loved to hate on this book and love it at the same time. I never quite got the appeal of that. Though, I enjoyed the premise of this book and even then I loved stories with princesses and kingdoms and princes.

2013: Shades Of Earth by Beth Revis

Wow, I still feel the intense love I had for these books now. It was such a fantastic sci-fi trilogy. The first book was a little weird, but they got so much better as they progressed. This was one of the first books that made me cry. It’s such a fantastic book.

2014: Cress by Marissa Meyer

I never did finish this series, though I skimmed the last book. I did really loved the first three books and I think it was a cool spin on fairytales, though I now realize the problems these books have.

2015: End Of Days by Susan Ee

Oh, the ending of the series that was supposed to be five books. I still think this story would have benefited and deserved two more books to really flesh out the world and try to achieve what the author wanted. I didn’t love this book as much as the other two, but I still have a deep love for this series, which is why it’s on here.

2016: Starflight by Melissa Landers

I read Alienated and abstrusely loved that book, so I couldn’t wait to try out her new book! I didn’t love this one as much as Alienated, but I still really liked it! Landers write such fantastic sci-fi books.

2017: Warcross by Marie Lu

(This book could’ve have had an Asian girl with rainbow hair on the cover and I’m still upset about that.) Warcross is such a unique idea and I loved, loved the technology of it. I loved how it didn’t take place in the US, I loved Emika, I loved the writing. I still haven’t finished Wildcard, but I plan to!

2018: Heart Of Iron by Ashley Poston

I adore Heart Of Iron and I adore Ashley Poston. This book is absolutely fantastic and I love it so much. And I cannot wait for Soul Of Stars!

2019: I Wish You All The Best by Mason Deaver

Alright, I have a lot of 2019 books that I really love, so I kind of just picked one at random haha. Still, I Wish You All The Best made my soul ache. It’s such an important book and I’m so happy a non-binary main character got a happy ending, but the book also showed the struggles they face and it was just very real.

 

I thought I wasn’t going to have books from the earlier years, but I guess I read across years more broadly than I thought haha. The prompt was supposed to be your favorite books, but I have a hard time picking favorites, so I just did books I loved (plus, I kind of just picked out the ones that I remembered having strong feelings toward on Goodreads lists haha)!
