Colsten Can’t Wait: Technically, You Started It by Lana Wood Johnson

Welcome to Colsten Can’t Wait, which is my version of Waiting On Wednesday! Every week, my cat and I pick out an upcoming book to highlight! This week, we picked out Technically, You Started It.

Synopsis:

When a guy named Martin Nathaniel Munroe II texts you, it should be obvious who you’re talking to. Except there’s two of them (it’s a long story), and Haley thinks she’s talking to the one she doesn’t hate. A question about a class project rapidly evolves into an all-consuming conversation. Haley finds that Martin is actually willing to listen to her weird facts and unusual obsessions, and Martin feels like Haley is the first person to really see who he is. Haley and Martin might be too awkward to hang out in real life, but over text, they’re becoming addicted to each other. There’s just one problem: Haley doesn’t know who Martin is. And Martin doesn’t know that Haley doesn’t know. But they better figure it out fast before their meet-cute becomes an epic meet-disaster . . .

This book sounds adorable. I don’t think I’ve read a lot of texting stories, but the few that I have read, I have really enjoyed and this one sounds like it’s going to be really awesome. This one sounds like it’s going to be a little bit like Alex, Approximately (but in it’s own way haha) and I really enjoyed that one and I’m looking forward to seeing how this story plays out. Both of the main characters, Haley and Martin, sound like they are going to be super awkward. And it sounds amazing. I’m super awkward, so I love reading about characters who fumble in social settings or just don’t know what to say sometimes! I’m all for teenage awkwardness. Haley (I’m pretty sure it’s her, but I could be wrong!) is also demisexual and I can’t wait for the rep.

Technically, You Started It comes out June 25, 2019! You can add it on Goodreads and pre-order a copy in the meantime!

Thank you for reading!
