I’ve wanted to give audio books a shot for awhile. I’ve seen a lot of people talk about how awesome certain ones are and I’ve always been intrigued. Though, I’ve just never actually done it. But I’ve recently found myself doing more things (puzzles, playing Sims), where listening to an audiobook would cool. So I decided to start one! And that gave me the idea to make a post about ones I really want to check out.
Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand, narrated by Lauren Ezzo
I have been wanting to read this book for awhile. I’ve just never gotten around to it. It is a little on the heavier side and it throws in some good creepiness on top of it. I’ve never felt like it was a good time for me to read it. Now, I feel like this would sort of one step removed and I would be able to enjoy it more? I dunno, but I’ll be able to read a book I’ve been wanting to for awhile!
Sadie by Courtney Summers, narrated by Rebecca Soler, Fred Berman, Dan Bittner, Gabra Zackman, full cast
So many people have raved about how good this one is and before I decided to give audiobooks a real shot, I was debating listening to this one because of how much hype it has. This is another one that’s on the heavier side, so listening to it might be a better idea for me! Plus, I really want to know what I think about this book!
Gemina by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman, narrated by Carla Corvo, Steve West, full cast, P.J. Ochlan
I read Illumanie close to when it came out and I really enjoyed it. And Gemina has been sitting on my shelf for forever. I don’t know what’s holding me back from reading it. But I now have a way to read it in my little snippets of random free time. Plus, I heard that it’s really good and that they cast is amazing.
Two Can Keep A Secret by Karen M McManus, narrated by Sophie Amoss, Kirby Heyborne
I really enjoyed One Of Us Is Lying. It was a fun read and I enjoyed the writing style. I’m still pretty upset about how mental health was presented and how the queer rep handled. So, I don’t really want to buy a physical copy of this book. I guess I just don’t want to hold it in my hands haha. I am curious about the story, so I thought an audiobook would be a good option.
The Brilliant Death by Amy Rose Capetta, narrated by Carlotta Brentan
I’ve been curious about this one for awhile, but I’ve never gotten around to reading it. I know some of my friend really, really love this one and we have similar tastes, so I want to give it a shot! And I think that will happen sooner if I listen to it!
When I’m looking through the audiobook selections, I see covers of books that I really want to read and I’m amazed that I can just listen to it whenever I have time! It’s cool to think about and it should be interesting to try out. If you have any recommendations or if there are any that I HAVE to listen to, please let me know! I’d love to build up an even bigger list.
Thank you for reading!
I also really want to try listening to Sadie! I’ve heard such great things too 🙂

I never did finish Sadie but the audiobook was absolutely incredible! It was really a wonderful experience with top-notch production values. The podcast parts sounded like a real, polished podcast with a full cast of actors and the narrator for the Sadie chapters was also fantastic. It was very heavy and heart-wrenching though.

I’ve been putting it off because of the heart wrenching part haha. But hopefully the amazingness of the audiobook can get me through it.

I keep saying I want to give audiobooks a try (and eventually, I do believe I will) but I have a terrible memory for things that I only hear so I know it’s going to go poorly. Sadie is a top audiobook option I’ve considered too though! Apparently there’s an actual podcast within the audiobook version, which sounds very cool.

I’m a really visual learner, so I’m a tad worried about remembering everything too! And I’m looking forward to hearing the whole podcast aspect of Sadie as well.

I guess if I’m going to be honest, I still forget half the names in physical books too. Well, here’s to us getting to some audiobooks this year and remembering at least the major plot points! I believe in us!
