Colsten Can’t Wait: Wilder Girls by Rory Power

Welcome to Colsten Can’t Wait, which is my veirson of Waiting On Wednesday! Every week, my cat and I pick out an upcoming book we’re super pumped for and highlight it! This week, we picked out Wilder Girls.

It’s been eighteen months since the Raxter School for Girls was put under quarantine. Since the Tox hit and pulled Hetty’s life out from under her. It started slow. First the teachers died one by one. Then it began to infect the students, turning their bodies strange and foreign. Now, cut off from the rest of the world and left to fend for themselves on their island home, the girls don’t dare wander outside the school’s fence, where the Tox has made the woods wild and dangerous. They wait for the cure they were promised as the Tox seeps into everything. But when Byatt goes missing, Hetty will do anything to find her, even if it means breaking quarantine and braving the horrors that lie beyond the fence. And when she does, Hetty learns that there’s more to their story, to their life at Raxter, than she could have ever thought true.

I’m not usually pulled to island or viral sickness stories like I am with this one. This one seems darker, more twisted, and lot a more queer than any of the others that I have read and I’m pretty sure that’s why I’m so pulled to it haha. And look at that cover. My mouth seriously dropped open when I saw that. I don’t even really have the words to describe how much I like it. I’ve heard that this books is incredibly weird, which sounds right up my alley. I’ve also been told that there is a creepy deer and a creepy bear, which makes me slightly terrified, but I am intrigued. This book sounds so different than anything I’ve read recently. I think its going to be haunting in a real life way, if that makes any sense at all. I can’t wait to learn more about the Tox and the world that these girls are living in. Am I ready for this book? Probably not. Am I super pumped to read it? Heck yes!

Wilder Girls comes out July 9th, 2019! You can add it on Goodreads and pre-order a copy in the meantime!

Thank you for reading!
