Happy Thanksgiving! If you celebrate of course and a happy Thursday to everybody that doesn’t. Thanksgiving isn’t the best for me (and for a lot of people I think), so I’ve decided to love on my favorite books that I don’t talk about as often! So get ready for some gushing!
Uprooted by Naomi Novik
Oh, this book is so good. It has such an amazing story that is developed so well with the slowest of burns but without all the frustration of waiting. It has an amazing female friendship, creepy woods with a twist, and incredibly satisfying writing. The world is so vivid and so good and it’s just amazing.
Unearthed by Amie Kaufman and Megan Spooner
Ahhh, it’s the temple book! This one has so many things I love mashed into it! It has elements on an underground horror story, but the characters are well developed and lovable. I’m a little nervous about the second book cause it looks like its going to be more politics and less unexplored temples on an alien planet. I’m still looking forward to it, I just think it’s going to be very different.
Song of the Current by Sarah Tolcser
I know I talk about how much I love the setting of this book, but it is actually really good outside of that too! The plot is interesting, the characters seem new and refreshing, and CONSENT is glaringly obvious on the page which was awesome to see! I have not read the second book yet, but I’m looking forward to being back in this world.
The Archived, The Unbound, and Vicious by V.E. Schwab
Vicious gets enough love without me, but I’m excited to throw mine into the mix! I read the other two books awhile ago and I didn’t love The Archived, I did love The Unbound. It was dramatic enough to state 14 (ish?) me and I realized it actually had a really good story to tell!
Anglefall by Susan Ee
I LOVE THESE BOOKS AND WOULD LOVE TO READ MORE OF SUSAN EE’S WRITING.
It’s actually hard to find books that I feel I don’t love on enough, since I am very vocal about my adoration haha. But I think there will always be a few that will fall through the cracks, so I would like to do another one of these posts someday!
Thank you for reading!
