Welcome to Colsten Can’t Wait, which is my version of Waiting on Wednesday. Every week my cat and I pick an upcoming book that we’re excited about to highlight! This week we picked The Storm Crow.
Synopsis:
In the tropical kingdom of Rhodaire, magical, elemental Crows are part of every aspect of life…until the Illucian empire invades, destroying everything. That terrible night has thrown Princess Anthia into a deep depression. Her sister Caliza is busy running the kingdom after their mother’s death, but all Thia can do is think of all she has lost. But when Caliza is forced to agree to a marriage between Thia and the crown prince of Illucia, Thia is finally spurred into action. And after stumbling upon a hidden Crow egg in the rubble of a rookery, she and her sister devise a dangerous plan to hatch the egg in secret and get back what was taken from them.
This is the kind of cover that leaves you stunned. And then the longer you stare at it, the more beautiful it becomes. I’m not quite sure how that’s possible, I just know that this cover never fails to amaze every time I see it. On top of that, the story sounds like its going to be equally as good. Crows seem to be in a lot of books and I love how this is playing on that and heightening it another level! I’ve never really thought about it, but crows are pretty cool and it should be cool to see a magical twist to them. I’m a little nervous about the depression part of the story, since when I read things like that, I feel it very intensely. Though, I still think I will give it a solid shot. I feel like it’s not going to be too bad for me and the story will be able to distract me! This book sounds like it’s going to have a strong sisterly bond, which is super awesome. I think there needs to be more positive sibling relationships than negative ones. Plus, I haven’t read a lot of books where siblings are main characters! I can’t wait to learn more about the crows and their eggs. Ah, it just sounds so awesome! I wonder how everything is going to play out.
The Storm Crow comes out July 9th, 2019! You can add it on Goodreads and pre-order a copy in the meantime!
Thank you for reading!
