Covers That Could Have Been More

It’s time for another cover post! I wanted to do something with pretty covers, but I actually came up with a different idea! There’s always a few covers that just don’t hit the mark for me. It doesn’t mean they’re bad and not gorgeous, I just think they could be something more or something different. I’m not a cover designer and I’m sure SO much work goes into designing these. These are just my opinions and I still think all of these on this list are something to behold!

We Hunt The Flame by Hafsah Faizal

I am so excited for this book! And this cover is certainly something amazing to look at, but I wasn’t expecting this cover to take the abstract approach. Where’s the cursed forest? Where’s Zafira dressed up like a man? I dunno, these colors definietly go together so well and I think it captures the vibe of the book perfectly, it just wasn’t what I was expecting.

A Very Large Expanse Of Sea by Tahereh Mafi

Here’s another one I didn’t expect to take the abstract approach! We could have had a girl wearing a hijab on the cover, but this is what we got. This one is really pretty and cute, it just could’ve have had a better cover that represents how important this book is.

Enchantée by Gita Trelease

While I do love this one, I find it to look a bit unfinished. I kind of looks an ARC cover to be honest. It will probably look better when I have the hardcover in my hands though!

Warcross by Marie Lu

I actually love this one and the design, but I do have to say it would have been better if a Chinese girl was on the cover. They could have incorporated the same feel, but added something so much more.

Grace and Fury by Tracy Banghart

I LOVE the fierce females on the cover. I think it’s freaking awesome. I just don’t know how this is cover to play out for a trilogy. I just don’t think there’s that much more that could be done for the third book that doesn’t seem redundant. We shall see though!

I love judging covers and I think this was a kind of different way of thinking about it! Of course my vision isn’t the only one out there so I could be the only one who thinks this way haha.
