Sci-Fi Recommendations

I love sci-fi. Space fascinates me and any book that has some good space in it, I’ll jump on. I also find aliens super cool and I love seeing all the different kinds and interpretations! I decided to share my love of this genre by throwing some of my favorites out there!

Before I start the official list I would just like to say that Heart of Iron by Ashley Poston and Ignite the Stars by Maura Milan and absolutely on this list, but I mention them in almost every single post I do, so they’re just getting an honorary mention here!

172 Hours on the Moon by Johan Harstad, Tara F. Chace (Translator)

This definitely has it’s claws in the horror genre as well as sci-fi. I absolutely loved this book. It was scary, it was riveting, it was amazing. From the reviews I’ve seen, you either hate this book or you love it. Man hasn’t been to the moon in a very long time, so NASA decides to send three teens too spend 172 hours up there on a base. Something is waiting for them.

Alienated by Melissa Landers

Oh, this book was one of the first on I ever loved. And this one was one of the first covers I thought was inexplicably beautiful. It’s about a girl hosting an alien exchange student and the struggles that presents. There is also unrest between people who want the aliens to be a part of Earth and the people who do not. It’s a light, cute read with some sci-fi elements!

Across the Universe by Beth Revis

I love this series more than I do this single book. The first one seems really weird at parts, but it gets so much better. Humans are going to another planet and some have been frozen for the 300 (?) year ride to their new home. But a girl wakes up early and there is more to this spaceship than meets the eye. The story gets better and better as the books go on and the story progresses beautifully between them!

Cinder by Melissa Meyers

So many people know this series, but it’s for a good reason. This series is amazing. It’s sci-fi, but they are all based off a classic fairytale. This one is Cinderella. It’s so good and I found it to be a fast read!

Unearthed by Amie Kaufman and Megan Spooner

Ah, this is such an amazing book. It has temples and lore and it’s all on an abandoned planet but it still has amazingly developed characters!

I have discovered that while I love sci-fi books, I don’t have a lot of favorites that are sci-fi. I’m probably forgetting all of them, but I think it’s really easy to do space/aliens/futuristic technology wrong. Nevertheless, I still love a lot of books from this genre and will keep looking for more to try!

Thank you for reading!
