*Minor spoilers maybe?*
Let’s see if I can get through this review without crying. I’ve wanted this movie since I was 12. I loved this book and this series with my whole heart and I’ll always love it. I think Ruby, Liam, Chubbs, and Zu will always make my heart pound. It’s still a little surreal that I actually saw it.
The movie went right by the book. Yes, things were changed and my favorite scene didn’t make the cut, but it’s there. What the book is, is there. I liked it and I am satisfied as a fan of the book.
The casting was A+. I truly saw the characters on screen. The chemistry between the core four was exactly like it was in the book. Even though relationships were formed really quickly, it didn’t feel forced or awkward.
Though I loved the film, I feel myself wanting more. I want more time for relationships to form, I want more plot development, I want things to be more fleshed out. I know that this is not possible, considering the movie cannot run for hours on end. It just felt like a everything was there, but it wasn’t up to it’s full potential, things were compromised so everything could fit.
I think some of my wanting more comes from the fact that I think Never Fade doesn’t even have a shot at being made. I’m not going to be able to see the rest of this story play out on the screen. I’m left with that heartbreaking ending. An ending I knew was coming haha, but doesn’t lessen the blow.
While some things might have been changed, I couldn’t really tell since I read the book so long ago and a reread didn’t happen before the movie. But, I know there were some scene straight out of the book. I’m not sure if the bumblebee dude was in the book, but it was an AMAZING addition and that’s not something I say very often.
I definitely recommend seeing it. Even if you haven’t read the book, I still think you will still enjoy it. And if you have read it, you will enjoy it as well.
Wow, I have an intense love for this book and if this movie is all I’m going to get to see, I can live with that.
Thank you for reading!
