2018 Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag

I haven’t been tagged to do this, but I always love freaking out about how fast the year goes by, so this is just the tag for me. I’m not sure who the original creator of this tag is, but thank you to whoever made it!

BEST BOOK YOU’VE READ THIS YEAR: Furyborn by Claire Legrand

34323570

Oh, this is a hard one. I’ve read so many fantastic books this year. A 2018 read that I read in 2018 that was one of the best would have to be Furyborn. It is such a fantastically built story and it has pretty much everything I want in a epic fantasy novel. I love it so much.

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: Spinning Silver by Noami Novik

36896898

While I still liked this book, it wasn’t what I was expecting. I adored Uprooted with everything in me and I was so ready for another fairytale retelling. The story just seemed to drag for me and I don’t think I was able to connect with the characters enough.

BIGGEST SURPRISE: Uprooted by Noami Novik

22544764

Haha, my biggest disappointment and biggest surprised are by the same author. I tried Uprooted because everybody seemed to love it. I thought it sounded mildly interesting so I thought I’d give it a go. I loved it so much more than I thought. I ended falling love with the world and the characters. Everything was just amazing.

FAVORITE NEW TO YOU OR DEBUT AUTHOR: Ignite the Stars by Maura Milan

38469737

One debut I recently read and loved was Ignite the Stars. It was SO GOOD. A battle academy in space story. Amazing. The author is also one of the sweetest people ever! I love interacting with her on Twitter and it was amazing to talk to her at BookCon during her signing!

NEWEST FICTIONAL CRUSH: ???

I don’t really get crushes on fictional characters. Yes, I love them, but it’s more afar these days.

NEWEST FAVORITE CHARACTER: Enne Salta

Enne Salta is one of the main characters in Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody. She is training to be a lady, but travels to the City of Sin to look for her missing mother. She’s a lady, but she can fight with the best of them. She’s a fierce one, that’s for sure.

BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY: What If It’s Us by Adam Silvera and Becky Albertalli

It’s hard to get me to cry during books. But, towards the end of this one, I did start to tear up.

BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPY: Listen to Your Heart by Kasie West
