I haven’t been tagged to do this, but I always love freaking out about how fast the year goes by, so this is just the tag for me. I’m not sure who the original creator of this tag is, but thank you to whoever made it!
BEST BOOK YOU’VE READ THIS YEAR: Furyborn by Claire Legrand
Oh, this is a hard one. I’ve read so many fantastic books this year. A 2018 read that I read in 2018 that was one of the best would have to be Furyborn. It is such a fantastically built story and it has pretty much everything I want in a epic fantasy novel. I love it so much.
BEST SEQUEL YOU’VE READ IN 2018: Daughter of the Siren Queen by Tricia Levenseller
This question made me realize that I havn’t been reading a lot of sequels lately! Waiting for them to come out? Absolutely. But one I did read and love was Daughter of the Siren Queen. It is just as fun and adventurous as the first one and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
NEW RELEASE YOU HAVEN’T READ YET BUT WANT TO: The Poppy War by R. F. Kuang
Everybody is raving about this book! It definitely sounds like it deserves the hype, I just haven’t gotten around to reading it yet. I know it deals with lots of heavy subjects, so I have been waiting for the right time for me to dive in. Hopefully that is soon!
MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR: Wildcard by Marie Lu
Another hard one! There are still so many amazing books to come out of this year, it’s amazing. I have to say that I am definitely really look forward to Wildcard. I loved loved Warcross and I can’t wait to see how the duology ends!
BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: Spinning Silver by Noami Novik
While I still liked this book, it wasn’t what I was expecting. I adored Uprooted with everything in me and I was so ready for another fairytale retelling. The story just seemed to drag for me and I don’t think I was able to connect with the characters enough.
BIGGEST SURPRISE: Uprooted by Noami Novik
Haha, my biggest disappointment and biggest surprised are by the same author. I tried Uprooted because everybody seemed to love it. I thought it sounded mildly interesting so I thought I’d give it a go. I loved it so much more than I thought. I ended falling love with the world and the characters. Everything was just amazing.
FAVORITE NEW TO YOU OR DEBUT AUTHOR: Ignite the Stars by Maura Milan
One debut I recently read and loved was Ignite the Stars. It was SO GOOD. A battle academy in space story. Amazing. The author is also one of the sweetest people ever! I love interacting with her on Twitter and it was amazing to talk to her at BookCon during her signing!
NEWEST FICTIONAL CRUSH: ???
I don’t really get crushes on fictional characters. Yes, I love them, but it’s more afar these days.
NEWEST FAVORITE CHARACTER: Enne Salta
Enne Salta is one of the main characters in Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody. She is training to be a lady, but travels to the City of Sin to look for her missing mother. She’s a lady, but she can fight with the best of them. She’s a fierce one, that’s for sure.
BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY: What If It’s Us by Adam Silvera and Becky Albertalli
It’s hard to get me to cry during books. But, towards the end of this one, I did start to tear up.
BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPY: Listen to Your Heart by Kasie West
Kasie is one of my favorite contemporary authors. She writes amazing, fluffy books and Listen to Your Heart was no different. It just made me smile.
FAVORITE BOOK – TO – FILM ADAPTATION: Love, Simon
Love, Simon is the film adaptation to the book Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. It was such a cute film and it was done so well.
FAVORITE POST YOU HAVE DONE THIS YEAR: #RockyRecommends
My favorite post would have to be all the #RockyRecommends posts I have done. I think they are so fun and I love showing off my cat!
MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK YOU’VE BOUGHT THIS YEAR: Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young
Just LOOK at that cover.
