This is a story with no beginning and no ending. That is something I truly believe. I’m not sure if that is simply because of the content of the story or because Melissa Albert has a special way with words.
I feel like this book could start anywhere, anytime, within this world. It could start and go on and on and on and I think I would keep reading because I was kept intrigued enough to keep going.
I was kept on edge for the entire book. But that’s it. I personally felt there was no raise or decrease in intensity throughout this story. Nothing got more intense and nothing came back down. It was a different experience and I wouldn’t say it was completely bad. It’s a weird sort of falling flat.
I wanted to read this book for the creep factor. I do enjoy a solid creepy story, in the broad daylight. The only downfall with those is that characters/character development usually suffers.
The problem with this one was is that I think good characters were attempted to be woven in the story. But I think that they fell short and the creepiness of the story also suffered because of it.
I didn’t particularly enjoy either of the main characters. They rubbed me the wrong way. But, I think I would have liked to get to know a certain character at the end of the book, since they did g a bit. I would like to know more about their journey.
All in all, this book intrigued me and I would like to know more, though I’m not sure I’m going to get that. I am intrigued (word of the post, I guess!) to what Melissa Albert will write next! I definitely think it will be good.
