During one week in July, I was supposed to receive A TON of book mail and I had a big plan to do a book haul for just that week and it was going to be great. Unfortunately, things went wrong with the mail and books arrived either earlier or later than intended. I also procrastinated a bit, so these are (almost) all the books I received this month.
First up is Unearthed by Amie Kaufman and Megan Spooner (feat. cat paws)! I have actually already read this one and it is AH-MAZING. I love anything by either of these authors, so I went in with high hopes and very little knowledge with what it was about and I was not disappointed. I am a personal fan of underground horror movies, and this book definitely has that feel. But, unlike most horror movies, this book has awesome, badass characters.
Next is There’s Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins. I have loved all of Stephanie’s other books, so I was looking forward to something new and different from her; I also do love horror if my mood is right. I have also already read this one also, but unlike Unearthed, I didn’t love it. I found there where many flaws, which I can’t really discuss without spoiling. I think my dislike of this book is really just personal preference, so if you like slashers, I definitely recommend checking it!
Miranda Keneally has always been one of my favorite commentary writers and I’m always on the lookout for her new books! In the past years I had been waiting for her to come out with a swimming book, since her books are sport based, and of course it happens after I quit the sport! Nevertheless, I will read Coming Up For Air and most likely enjoy it. Lookout for some pool photos when I review it!
The Upside Of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli. I have been meaning to pick this book up since it came up, but I’ve always found a reason not to. Luckily, a random trip to the bookstore and it is in my possession! I’m looking forward to the representation this book holds.
Forest Of A Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao is a book I am looking forward to seeing in it’s hardcover glory. Even this ARC is gorgeous! I’m looking forward to finding out what this new world is all about!
Lucky In Love by Kasie West. Even though this book is already out, I received my copy almost three weeks early! Of course, I didn’t get around to reading it before the release date, but Kasie West is also another one of my favorite contemporary authors, so I’m ready for some fluffy sweetness.
One of the joys (and curses) of Twitter is that I find out about A TON of new releases that sound amazing. That is how a copy of Love And Other Alien Experiences by Kerry Winfrey ended up in my possession. This book deals with anxiety along with other tough subjects, but I’m ready to see what direction this story takes.
Twitter strikes again. Wesley James Ruined My Life by Jennifer Honeybourn. This books sound so fluffy and cheesy and all those other wonderful things that I absolutely love. I have heard mixed reviews on this one, but I still plan on reading (and reviewing) it in the near future.
Amid Stars And Darkness by Chani Lynn Feener, the final book, is also another Twitter find. Just look at that cover! And that title! And that summery (which you can’t see, but is sounds really, really good. Alien kidnappings and princesses and royal romance)! This is also another one that I’m REALLY looking forward to reading!
And that’s it! I would recommend checking out any of the books on this list because they all sound (and are if I’ve read them) amazing! Happy reading and till next time!
